I always let faster filterers past cos i can be quite slow so I keep an eye out. If i'm faster people generally do the same. I think thats how it should be but i suppose there are less bikes up here so everybody is friendly

I like to bimble along on me SV so I always move in for the fast lads. A little wave is a nice gesture.
![]() I don't think I have ever overtaken a similar powered motorcycle so will have to pass that one. ![]() Don't do London so can't comment. Although I would draw a line been overtaken by scooters and 125's. I have my pride. |

i don't deliberately pull over if a faster bike comes up behind me, but when the road clears out (as it usually does) i don't acccelerate off that quickly, it allows the eager biker to get past (then i can follow). these gaps are fairly regular what with the traffic lights all the way to work, so when they have to wait cos i'm filtering slower, they don't have to wait long...
maybe if i was continuously filtering for a long while, it'd be a different matter, but i've not had that situation yet so can't comment! |

I normally, if possible get to the front because lets face it that's one of the reason why most of us or I ride a bike rather then drive a car, but if someone comes behind me and i don't think its safe to filter to the front then i will do my best to move over so another biker who might be more experienced then me plod to the front, but that's me...

When it is safe to do so I'll let a following bike go.
Hold behind at a safe distance, never be pushy they may be pressured to take risks. I try to give space a the head of a queue (I never blast-off from lights, I've seen too many red lights jumped). |

1) I very rarely have somebody filtering faster than me (that's not a boast, it's just true!) but when that has been the case I do try and get out of the way, I even speed up a bit if I can.
2) I'll give another bike about 3 opportunities to move over, if that doesn't work I'll change lanes and go round them. Most bikes do get out of the way (except cruisers...) The big BMW guys know they slow people down and tend to act accordingly. 3) Same as Daimo, I often make sure I've made space for others and yet half the time they never use it.... . |

when filtering i generally allow/try to get other bikers to pass me. i like to filter at my own pace. i'd rather they passed when i knew they were doing it, than shooting through a gap im about to use. looking in my mirrors every 2 seconds also stops me looking forward, where the real danger should be. Although i do find many riders dont pass. this does frustrate me a little as i do make it quite clear that i know they are there, and i am happy for them to pass. but they dont
![]() if i come up behind someone i generally just follow at their pace as i leave plenty of time to get into work, so i ride safely (in no rush y'see!). if on the open road, laboriously slow, or its clear they are happy for me to pass, i will pass only when it is safe, and will make my actions obvious, so if they use their mirrors they can see my intentions and my actions. to me, the most important thing is riding at your own pace, and considering others. so i try to move over if i can and its safe, when other riders come up behind me. And try to make space at the lights too. Paul |

total dependant on my instincts if i dont feel like filtering or perceive it to be safe i will pull over if i know it to be safe i will filter and filter faster than most could keep up so not a problem if on the other hand someone is trying to filter at a mad pace ie driving on the pathway then i will certainly let them pass no point in making someone journey harder
