Yahoo!
Its the first year you really want, you get the biggest discount to start with and the the increase in the discount goes down progressively until you hit the maximum ncb.
On average 1st year = 30-33%, then on a sliding scale to the maxumum of 65% which should be 5 years. This counter acts the increase in premiumns and insurance tax. Last year i saved £4.40 from the previous year

if you have a bike with say 1 yr NCB and decide to buy another and then start another policy, you can't state you have 1 yr NCB as it's being used for the other bike, you have to start at zero, or add it on to the other insurance.

If you have full ncb and most comapnies will offer an introductory discount on a second vehicle. You can also, afaik transfer the NCB from a bike to a car, so i was told. Thats probably a load of tosh.

I built up a full NCB on a bike, stopped riding and got a car but they wouldn't let me transfer it over. So I built up a full NCB on my car then got a bike. They told me I had lost my full bike NCB and although I had spent five years building a full car NCB in that time it counted for nothing.

If I ever stop riding again I am going to get an old broken down 50cc moped for £10 and keep that insured.

Interesting one about using your NCB from a bike when you get a car.It certainly used to be the case that the one was not transferrable to the other, but I thought there was a company that had moved on this.Did'nt Carole Nash start doing a combined car bike policy which enabled you to use NCD from either?Or did I imagine that?
Several companies now offer insurance for all sorts of vehicles so I see no reason why your NCD should not be transferrable.Ebike also has Ecar and Evan all run by the same firm so why not recognise the NCD?

My bike was blown over in the storm on Thursday

Basically the fuel tank is knackered.

Is it worth claiming and losing my NCB or taking the hit myself and stay schtum?

I have £250 excess so it is looking like an expensive tank

How knackerd is it? why not just get a baglux to cover the damage or scout on ebay for a second hand tank.

I will be cheaper to get a tank from eBay and that way it won't affect your NCB.
