And it goes on and on and on.

Makes me so sad some days i just wanna cry but who's that gonna help?

I think the least they should be doing is rebuilding the infastructure but they seem to be so busy doing so many things that one hand dont know what the other is doing. Sometimes even what the other looks like such is the disorganised secrecy of some of the black ops going on over there.

Sadly, recently a highly ranked CIA officer admitted to having had his guys "dress and act as insurgents" in order to infiltrate the real insurgents. He further admitted he had clearance to do "all neccessary" to accomplish this including planting devices that were used against their own troops to convince the locals they were genuine. But he called it off when he saw they were killing too many innocents and not actually finding any info about the structure and comand/control of the insurgents.
Cant find the article to link to now but its out there somewhere.

What a ****ty way to behave, thank god his concience got the better of him. But i'm also big enough to realise the minute he walked another Yes-man filled his shoes

Until the real memo is produced, it calls into question the whole thing about what the editor added or amended into the document and what is real [if its real at all which while I accept is a possibility its also a possibility its not].
I think the doubt lies in any information we are given on the situation. I am over it all and debating it seems like a waste of time and energy. If someone said to me "Mass Ride Out to Parliment or Buckingham Palace in Protest" then it seems like positive action that i would entertain. Name a date and time!!

Well Brian Haw is right there on Parliament Sq 24/7 and welcomes anyone who shares a few words of support with him. Whenever i can stop when i'm passing by there i will, or if i cant stop i always give him a few toots from the bike and a wave at least.

And i toatly agree wiht the rest of your post about the validity & genuinity of any info that comes to public domain. But this at least seems to be closer to the truth than some of the frankly moronic stories that are printed about how things are getting so much better for the majority of people. They mostly have no water or electrics or get it a few hours of the day at best.

And with that I agree. The truly sad thing is that Afghanistan is also heading that way. And so are a number of African states where the muslim population is growing increasingly fundamentalist.

What scares me is that despite the immense damage done to Iraq and Afghanistan, the US will still be eyeing up an invasion in Iran.

You'd think they would have learnt from Vietnam - the French did, they pretty much dont go anywhere these days unless its under the UN banner [their former colonies aside]. Or you'd think with 2,500 dead already in Iraq, with Afghanistan heading that way they'd spot the fact this will be Americas next Vietnam.

At some point they may learn a constructive, just and fair foreign policy which helps implement a decent infrastructure would solve the problem a damn site quicker and better than an incursion of military troops.

Surely this is common knowledge? Don't we already know that there have been, and there still are problems with the basic utilities? Much of the time when certain things are restored to the benefit of many, a small minority come along and wreck it...it's basic 'pi$$ the majority off' stuff surely.

Oh, and they spelt Jordan wrong...(just being picky now )

You know you can be arrested under the new terrorism acts for any protest within a set distance (believe it's a square mile) of Parliament? Brian Haw's teh sole exception as the law only applies to new protests.

Nothing new of course, the Tories took away the right to peaceful protest with the Criminal Justice Act (1994). Though of course they claimed it would never be used for that- then I was arrested under the new powers in the Act 2 days after it entered law, for protesting against it

I think you all know about how I feel about politics like this on the site, but one has to ask the question "Are they better off now than they were under the dictatorship ?"

My other problem with Iraq is that they say the west isn't doing enough in the way of building infrastructure, but they keep destroying the work that outside agencies do, so how will it ever get better? and without local skills who else is going to build it ?

Like Lyn, I would have to question the authenicity of the document, and the fact that it has been "edited" makes it almost worthless....

Some of us will have to give that a miss. Civil service code of conduct and restrictions on political activities and all that. Which excludes 3 of us I know of :P
