I got over 30 thou outta my first chain without a scottoiler. I believe the suzuki chain set is reasonable. They should quote a price for the whole kit. As it's an endless chain the swingarm has to come out, but I prefer this idea to a rivetted in situ chain. And a chain rivetter is about 50 quid but the special socket that is reqiured for the swing arm bolt is 70quidish. Expensive but very useful for suspension maintenance.

Quite true, Suzuki OEM is endless but comes with a rivet link so if you carefully dremmel off a link and replace it with the rivet link all should be well. Doesn't come with a split link though and a common comprimise is to get a chain with a split and rivet link do it up with the rivet link, take it to a garrage and give them £5 - £10 to fit the rivet link only.

OE cost £96 disregarding the small print on price so the £120 the dealer quote for the chain and sprocket sound a bit steep .

I might go for the OE next time myself as to be honest they seem to last as well as the Superduper triple XYZ after-market chains. Never gave them a thought as expected them to be a lot more going from previous experience of OE chains.

Cheers
Ben

Where the hell did you go to get this? I tried three dealers (the Haynes manual even prints the part number) but they all refused to sell it to me!! I made one eventually which worked fine but it would have been much easier if I could bought one!!

note - this is not uinique. My elderly Vauxhall Cavalier has very wierd "spoked" bolts holding the distributor cover on - I could not clean the thing when the old girl started missing at the weekend and the garage charged me an arm and a leg yesterday for parts and labour . Still, it runs better now...
