Does a naked bike ACTUALLY make you ride slower - Page 2 - SV650.org

Without wishing to sound patronising. Its probably better if you just learn some self restraint and consciously make an effort to slow down.

Mind you I'm not saying its easy and nobody buys a bike to ride it slow

The bike mags would have you believe that riding without a bubble of perfect wind deflection around you limits you to a max of 30 minutes of 80mph

Generally I used to have a slightly higher crusing speed on the motorway on my half faired GPz than I do now on my Nekkid sv (not including sunday where I got into tree figures a couple of times

). Round town though it doesn't really make a lot of difference.

120mph + on a naked bike would be fine,if only that invisible dude would stop pulling at the neck of your jacket from behind.

It doesn't seem to have slowed TSM down

It might stop you from doing stupid speeds- if you were in the habit of doing 186mph on your Busa up the M6 or similiar then switching to a GSX1400 would most certainly slow you down. But if you're doing 100 everywhere, I doubt it would.

Don't slow me down any. The only thing that slows me down is the right wrist and the two brake levers.

Hmm hard to say but I think a naked may well slow you down.

I remember getting to around 120 on my naked Bandit and being pretty scared that I might not be able to hold on. That has to be the only time in a straightline where I have thought damn this is too fast.

Whereas when I used to do those speeds on the SVS I was bored sick moaning about the lack of power.

What I do know for sure is that I will never again ride a naked bike as the wind blast was soooo tiring and annoying plus its colder. Ok maybe if I get some little 125 commuter as a winter hack but other than that no way.

havin ridden my first naked bike at the annual run at the weekend. i found it a bit achy on the arms and neck when trying to keep up with dirty dog on motorway. had to give up at about 120 as i thought my head was going to fall off.

but the more I do it the more muscles i will build up. will have a neck arnold (funny name) would be proud of

Oh I don't know...

For some, windblast's part of biking but on the Hornet it used to irritate me. The present owner of the Hornet certainly doesn't seem to be slow - as some on AR06 will testify.
