I have a K6 pointy. Im not (and never was) of the curvy, owng to that beam scaffolding sort of frame. All thats just personal preference.

Looking at my SV, its brand new etc etc and I can see which parts are going to be ontheir ****. I darent run it through winter becuase its going to end up a pile of corrosion. If you are looking at getting a bike and have a certain budget, why not get a newer model over an older one?

Agreed. And the swingarm on the pointy is just a horrible slab of metal compared to the nice one on the curvy. As for getting a new one because the SV will end up a pile of corrosion if run through the winter.....................hosre pooh! We ran our first curvy all year round and you wouldn't have found a spot of corrosion on it after 47,000 miles. If you look after them, they are fine.

I think i might be right in saying that 'The Curvy appears to crashes better as well' .

Cheers

Well, I suppose I'd better come clean that I am a curvy owner, but I think I agree with what several peeps have said that the two bikes are pretty similar. I test rode a pointy bike when I bought my baby. What sold it to me was

1) Condition. Although it has done 20,000 miles and has a number of owners on the log book it has been well looked after and no one believes that it is more that a year old.

2) Freebies. When you buy used, you tend not to pay a premium for the last guys mods. My bike is well equipped with the stuff i would have paid to add. Double bubble screen, fruity pipe, belly pan. It does not have any of the questionable stuff that I wouldn't have spent my own money on (anodised christmas decorations).

The newer pointy bike was a real nail. It had obviously been down the road on its side and live outdoors judging by the corrosion.

The best arguement for the pointy bike is the cracking finance that is available on a new bike. I think I am right to say that they are still available for £1 down and 0% over three years, and that if you shop around you can get those terms even if you pay about £4k for the bike. Could make for a bike which will allow you to part ex it without still owing money on it if you upgrade in a year? It only gets expensive when you start throwing accessories at it.....
