Just one thing do you want a biking holiday or a biking adventure Two different types of trip if I may say so. Also Nick never did get the petrol tank expanded on his R1. I do know, as he is a mate of mine. Also look out for me on TV this winter on my SV996R up in the lakes riding with him. The program will be on Granada men and motors under “Biker Britain”

I went to Marseille with my girlfriend on my SV1000S.
I have a Suzuki gel seat for it but after a couple of hours i was still a little sore but it's better then the standard seat. She hated the standard pillion seat but suffered no permanent damage I'm not a big fan of the hydraulic clutch, I just can't seem to move off smoothly with it unless i ride the clutch for longer then I'm used to. The fuel consumption is very variable. The most we got was 170miles. It really is dependent on how you ride it. I tried to not let the revs go higher then 5.5k Plenty of poke and the brakes are good enough. My only real complaint is that a bigger fuel tank would be nice. |

Then I had a discussion with the plod/bikesafe stand at the bmf on Sunday....... If some Uk Police forces are made to use them at NO MORE than 90 mph and others have had them removed from service, I for one do NOT want one Besides after a test ride I thought they were a bit noisy and a bit gutless !!!!! FWIW Terry |

Just a quick one..... We went away on the AR05 with the SVThou's. 2 Up on a SV1000, with 2 tents, etc. All his stuff in paniers, mine on bag on back.
Wasn't the most comfiest ride. However, if you're doing hotels, and can just use paniers and a tank bag, plus maybe small rucksack, I can't see a problem with it! Although, maybe gel pillion seat and footpeg extenders would be nice!! ![]() Hope you enjoy your travels though! |

I actually thought the uncomfy seat buisness was related just to the original curvy's. I'm surprised its still such an issue. A main issue at that.
I have owned a few bikes (like most of us on here i think) and liked the idea of the sv thou as i love the quirky trates related to a twin. But tank limit range and comfort are just a couple of things that keep popping up. Must admit never had a problem with the Honda's we have had which is probably why i am thinking VFR. I Don't really want to tour on a naked for practical reasons (ok for jaunts but long term touring!) The trip i did a few yrs back across spain on a naked bandit was hard work enough....WIND BLAAAAST!! Don't get me wrong, great fun but thought about a tourer then especially when you see your mate chillin at whatever speed on a busa, jammy person thought i. V-Strom, never actually considered this to be honest/got me thinking though. Maybe its because me bones (not quite 21 any more) are screaming COMFORT more than anything else at the moment. Now i do remember (men and motors) seeing a sofa on wheels.....aha, a Pan! ![]() ![]() We have got the clothing side of things down to a fine art,buy it when your at each destination ![]() ![]() |

Either go alone or get a BMW, FJR or even a PAN!
The SV is a good tourer just not a GREAT one....IMHO. ![]() |
