And did you, in fact, get the exact same answer over there?

It should run a little cooler than the rear cos it's infront, bit like IL4's that use different jet sizes in the middle two carbs cos they run hotter. Mine are both the same.

Yep, but IL4s have heat transfer through the cylinder walls and cases, vtwins don't have that since they're totally seperate. It is a Mystery Mine are both the same and it works, so I don't worry about it.

I'm sure you're right. What setup did you end up with? As far as I can think mine has a Dynojet kit with K&N filter, 138 mains, stock pilot settings (17.5 jet and 2.5 turns out), needle on 3rd clip from bottom (I think, with the plastic doughnut under it you can see one groove only underneath). Dyno says it's pretty much optimum.

Not going to say I'm spot on, just that it works OK so I've not put any more thought into it. I'm on DJ 180s now... I saw TWF mention on SV Rider that part of the reason is that the carb itself is hotter from engine heat- makes more sense to me that, since the aircooling's not a major part of the cooling effect on liquid cooled motors usually. He knows better than me

180 is pretty big, any idea how far out it might be?

Ther eis a rich spot on full throttle for mine, around 6-7000rpm, haven't done anything about it but now know that riding at 80 everywhere is worth 8mpg more than riding at 90! Might have to have a tinker... or go faster...

180's what mine needs... Or at least, we ran it with 175s and it was lean at the top still, still to run it again with the new idle settings and the 180s but it's going to be very close. But whether it'd do better with a different jet front and back, don't know.

You can make a simple lambda pickup and reader for under £100, if I had my prices right, using parts from the home of quality components, Demon Tweeks

Or buy a Bosh Lambda from Eurocarparts for £19.99 and tape a Multimeter to the tank
