When this came up last time IIRC the Oxford Stormex was the cover of choice.
Not cheap though.

I have a heavy PVC one that I got so long ago I have no idea where I bought it. It was blue but now it's black, brown and green. In the summer I try to clean the flora off but in the winter it grows back again.

oxford stormex can be excellent depending what your after, i stored my last bike outdoors with one. when some kids came to try and steal my bike *groan - nobheads* i could tell because the cover was pulled over the front mudguard. Its breathable, and lined with soft felt to stop any scratches, and has loops for a chain which anchor the cover to the bike. however it is huge! twice the size of a sleeping bag- so i can't be transported at all which is a pain. Its not the toughest thing either, when the kids gave up they pushed my bike over and it ripped it to shreds. i'd recommend a garage

I have an Oxford Stormex and think it's rubbish. I find that water runs down the sides, through the holes you lock it through, front and rear, and collects in the elasticated base. This turns the thing into a giant sponge, and capillary action starts soaking the water up the inside. It also then weighs down at the base and starts dragging in all the road cr@p.
Ride/Bike/some magazine said it was the best, but they only stuck a hose on it for about 5 minutes - One night of classic British weather and you'll be cursing the day you bought it! Mark my words - avoid. |

Last time I said get a bike barn.
No waiting for the bike to cool, no rubbing against the paint (doesn't matter how soft the lining is the dirt and dust on the bike still gets rubbed across), hardly any condensation and you can cover and uncover the bike in 5 seconds. Very cheap for what is almost as good as a garage or shed but with easier access than the latter and you can take it with you if you move house. |
