That point about shifting the shock later on had crossed my mind, meaning I wasn't really intending on leaving a good shock in if I sold the bike on. At the minute, I must say I'm more swayed towards an Ohlins shock for the whole package, given a little investigative work found that the other shocks are more expensive (where I could find a vendor that is).

NEC could still sway me though, will see.

Well, after a trip to the NEC I've now spent my money.

Looked all around, looked at prices, quality, tarty colours, adjustability, personalisability, services offered and well pretty much everything.

So in the end my choice was made as a compromise, based upon what services were offered compared to the price, some thought was also based on the overall appearance of the shock.

I decided on a Nitron shock, built in England so always a good start if I need some assistance I thought. Also, heard some good write ups on them and must say the whole package was very appealing to me. I'll be receiving the new shock in about a week to 10 days, all set up for my weight.

It's got ride height adjustability (always useful), all damping adjustments and for that bit of bling a nice remote reservoir. Quite a few pennies to spend, but should be worth it.

How much I hear you ask, dare I say? Well, £379 all in. Looks like the one on the left in this picture:

Not saying it does not work, just what ive heard. Its more to the quality of the build etc.. I considered one as they are a good price for what you get, but now i have something else.

Everything I'd read they sounded pretty damn good, and the build quality was top.

Reports I'd seen pretty much said fair enough they're not as good as WP or other mega pricey shocks, but are a damn good shock and are better than other opposition they're against.

Well I've bought it now, so I'll see how it is. I'm happy with what I've bought anyway.

How did you get on with your Nitron shock Jase? I'm considering getting one, although without a remote reservoir, and would be interested in your experience.

Cheers.

You know, I had completely forgotten about this thread!!!

I left the fitment over winter due to factors of time, and muck everywhere, and finally got around to it a couple of weeks back. Bit of a pain in the rear, as with any shock removal, but with the remote reservoir, it fits in a hell of a sight easier than the 636 shock did!!

Shock has ride height adjustability, so it's currently set to 20mm longer than stock to give the quickness of handling I like, with the rear being a little higher.

Thus far on the commute, and a little bit of harder riding, it's been spot on. Damping feels well controlled, spring rate suits my ahem rotundity and bike feels nice and stable. I've yet to have a real ride with it, but will get some time over next few weeks and update accordingly.

Looks - different colour combos to other shocks (and if I was overly tarty as accused by Ben on one occasion, doesn't match my bike), but machined parts have a "quality" appearance.

I've mounted the remote reservoir just between the shock and battery box to hide away, also the oil line wasn't quite long enough to mount from the thingy handles where you strap stuff to. Also keeps it out of the sight of people who might like to mess about with my shock.

Give me a couple o hundred miles and I'll post again.
