I did a similar sort of trick while, ehh, ahem, testing explosives in the back garden. The mixture was rather more explosive than I initially thought it would be.

It was more of a WHOOMPH sound and blinding light I remembered, as I staggered back through the breakfast room, eager to make a special note of that mixture, white as a ghost.

My dad, who knew full well what I was up to, quizzed me about various things. while all my eyelashes, eyebrows and front of my hair fell in little cascades down my face onto the floor.

Sound.

I may have had a few close calls involving a cup of paraffin and a solid wood burning stove.
