I suppose if Suzuki didn't use cheese the torque settings might be higher.

How do I change the oil?

Thanks for all of the help and advice over the last month on this forum - have a great Christmas all!

Kev
I just did mine - Using Haynes manual. viz:

Ensure engine is warm so that oil runs freely. (10 minute drive will do it)

Put oil catcher under sump and remove plug.

Remove oil fill cap to let oil flow freely.

Use oil filter spanner (about £5 from Busters) to remove oil filter.

Let oil drain out.

Clean round sump hole and oil filter flange(say that p*ssed!).

Smear engine oil round oil filter seal and screw oil filter in - screw in until rubber seal contacts mating surface and then two full turns.

Replace sump plug.(21 NM)

Fill with 2.4 litres of new engine oil.

Replace filler cap.

Mine normally go something like this:

Ensure engine is warm so that oil runs freely. (10 minute drive will do it)

Put oil catcher under sump and remove plug.
Spanner slips on rounded nut and skin knuckles
Burn hand on hot oil and drop sump plug into oil drainer.
Remove oil filler cap to let oil flow freely
Splash oil all over garage floor.

Try and remove oil filter by hand, slip and skin knuckles.
Use screwdriver and hammer (to tight to buy oil filter spanner (about £5 from Busters)) to remove oil filter.

Splash oil all over garage floor

Clean round sump hole and oil filter flange.
Smear engine oil round oil filter seal and screw oil filter in - screw in until rubber seal contacts mating surface and then two full turns.

Replace sump plug.(21 NM)

Fill with 2.4 litres of new engine oil
Slip with funnel, splash oil all over garage floor

Replace filler cap.
Clean garage floor

i always drop the old oil out and pour fresh in so it runs straight through and out the other side again just to make sure the sump is clean.

Look at the position of the drain plug in relation to the engine. Work it out for yourself. Is the lower in the way of the oil coming out?. Can you get to the oil filter with the fairing in place?

'Rupert' !!!!
