HPI db shows it to be:

Colour BLUE
Fuel type HEAVY OIL
Date manufactured 31 December 1998
Number of previous owners 2

Worth giving them a visit IMHO

Hmm..Pete, it may indeed have been a 306. All these tin tops look the same to me . I could have sworn the colour was silver though unless it was a very very light blue.

Even if you did something wrong ( hey we all make mistakes don't we ) it still doesnt warrant trying to knock you off your bike. Retalating with violence only drags you down to his level. Some car drivers just don't like bikers filtering or maybe he didnt see you and you spooked him.

Sounds like you had a lucky Even iescape, give the police a ring and report what this toss pot did so that he doesnt do it to somebody else.

Fizz, what you have just written is exactly what I was about to write . Only you put it better than I probably would have .
I really don't think it was a case of spooking him. As I approached the first set of lights there were only maybe a maximum of four six cars. The lights had just gone red so I knew it would be a while before they turned green again. I slowly made my way to the front and put my bike slightly aheard of the car on the right and as I normally do raised my hand to the car I'd just gone in front of(keeps most happy). All he had to do was carry on in his lane(big sign say use both lanes blah blah). That's why it's so odd. I don't want to say understand as that would be a stupid thing to say but it would have made more sense if I'd actually stuck my bike in front of his car when I got to the front. You know something I was indeed lucky that I chose to stop in front of the other car for starters.

Dudes, going from how it all started I would put a lot of money that trying to knock his mirrors etc would have the guy have you off without batting an eyelid.
It took a bit to get the Reg as after making contact with me, his driving became even more dangerous as he tried to make some distance. Even factoring the fact that the roads are a bit iffy and I sort off didn't want to get too close(just close enough to get the Reg), it was a bit of work.

I suspect thats whats done it, he might have misinterpretd your friendly wave of thanks or he just didnt like you in his eyes "pushing in front of him".

Yep they sure will, I used to get very very angry at the slightest bit of dodgy driving, most of the time I don't bother now. Its all to easy for an angry car driver to give you a nudge and then your on the floor. No way would I stop and get off the bike thats asking for trouble. Every now and again I do lose my temper, but I find afterwards I put my self at risk by riding like a tw*t as I'm still wound up over it so most of the time now I just shake my head and ride away.

I wouldn't do the raising hand thing myself as it can be misinterpreted.

I don't acknowledge them at all as that way they don't feel like you have done it to get one over on them in anyway. Remember with car drivers it is all about ego and (lack of) p*nis size.

i managed to talk to a bimbo in a mini once who thought she could just cut across the lane as you described, regardless of my being there.

i asked her what she thought she was doing and did she not see me there?

Her answer... "yeh i saw you, i wanted to be in that lane and you were in my way. You need to learn to get out of the way for cars. Youre just in the way."
God how i wish that conversation was recorded as no copper would ever believe me if i told them that. Sadly some car drivers simply see bikes as unimportant and that their box has more propirty cos of its physical size.

If it'd been a bloke i would have used the same argument as my fist smashed into his teeth. My fist wanted to be there and his teeth were just in the way. But i cant be doing that to gils who try and run me down for some reason.

...and that's just the women drivers

Some car drivers view filtering as dangerous and illegal and those same drivers are the type to hog the middle lane of the motorway. You can't reason with those people, no matter what you say ; they will most likely claim it was your fault . take Fizz's advice, count to ten and put it down to experience. Bummer though it may be.

Don't you just hate lane hoggers? sorry another thread to be posted me thinks!
