Or you could use some sort of underseal like Waxoyl... When I took the paint off mine it had a very small amount of rust around some of the welds, but not enough to be a big concern. Considering my tank had pinholed from the inside

The hoops at the top for the bolts look a bit like eyes, y'see. To me, at least. And I've hardly been drinking.
