Look, I went on it, hated going to that place so i got off it and got a job... ok?....clearly we are misunderstanding each other
My comment was directed at the many people in that place who had no intention of getting a job and would go to abuse the staff. There seems to be an abundance of those types in Bradford. I too payed tax before and during the time i was at uni and was entitled to it. instigator...apologies if i have caused any offense this site should help Quote:

I was on the "Bru" as its called up here a few years ago after the company i worked for closed down. When i went in and told them i'd found a job on my own, I got about 400 quid to help with starting work again.. bonus! £200 back to work payment and £200 for clothing/fuel costs.
If you dont want to "go near that place" you wont get anything to help you on your way.. i was glad to get the extra money at the time. Think you can get payments backdated.. dont think it will be a long time though, 6 weeks ish.. not too sure. |

You will be very lucky to get a backdate, they fight tooth and nail. After I was sacked from Wrekin I delayed claiming and then tried a back claim. They told me to **** off, so I appealed to the Tribunal, and the Trib told me to **** off too.
About the only litigation I've ever lost ![]() |

My younger daughter got JSA. I think it was about £45/week. OK she also got her rent/rates paid as well. But by the time you have paid for gas/electricity it doesn't leave a huge amount to actually feed/cloth yourself. Her biggest issue, was she had to sign on every fortnight. It cost her £5.20 in bus fare to get to the local job centre.
She kept getting asked why she did not come to the office more often to look at what was available. The staff did not seem to think it unreasonable to expect somebody to walk 12 miles in the hope that that day there might be something there and threatened to cancel her entitlement.

Greg,
Go and sign on - I don't like the places either but they are the best people to talk to. Though be honest with them. They will want to know what savings you have so be warned. If you have lived off your saving for the past few months then you might not get it backdated as at that time you may not have been elgible. Just ask them what you need to do and say you've been told you can back date the claim. You won't get anything for rent coz of your domestic situ unless you've moved out since i was last down. If nothing else it gets your NI paid while sigining on. When they go on about jobs - tell that you are looking and you have had offers but reasons have stopped accepting them - not enough money is not a good one- The guys I had once they realised I'd been to Uni left me to it as they said that there would be nothing for me in the job centre. As long as you can prove that you are looking that the main thing. Jst remember you can work up to 16hrs and still claim IIRC so you can get part time and get benefits and get them off your back. You're entitled to as much as the next person |

As said, the way i see it, i fork out silly money per month on tax, it'll only go to some pikey council people who will never work anyway, so get back some of that what shoudl be rightfully yours anyway ![]() Only downer is you have to stand in the jobcenter place for a little while. |
