It's one of these. Arai's top of the range car helmet. Along with some Simpson and Bell helmets, one of the few that can say they are rated for that sort of crash. Not much use on the bike though, the visor opening is too small, and they weigh quite a bit It's what you'd want on your head in that situation though.

It wasnt I dont think a Bike Arai, I'm sure I read somewhere it was an F1 Spec Car Arai lid, it looked a different shape than the bike ones are.

Nice to see them back and entertaining as ever. Hammond looked like a stunned possum tonight - lost some weight and understandably looked pretty emotional explaining that crash.
