Having done some research in this field I am willing to suggest that such machines are not all built with inferior quality materials and components. The main difference in the end price of the product is that the labour costs in Korea and China for example are way below those even in Japan. Hence a very competitively priced product can be produced.

Piaggio now have one model which is completely produced in China....materials,assembly and production.

Not sure how the likes of Kymco and Daelim sell in the UK but in Europe they sell very well and do not have people questioning the quality.

N:B: In the 125 market here in Spain which is the biggest sector of the overall market, models from both Daelim and Kymco regularly feature in the top 10 lists for unit sales, that when up against the market leaders like Piaggio and Yamaha.

With that, many better known manufacturers are not even getting a look in.

Nice

I have no doubt that the build quality will improve once they establish themselves more and get a bit of feedback. They COULD give a bike journalist a loan of one for a year but not sure if the build quality is up to that just yet.

I am interested in this bike as it is a SV competitor. It sure looks good and if the mechanicals match the looks then it will be a winner.

Hyundai Coupe shows that the Koreans can do a good job when they do it right.

The Hyosang doesn't use an SV engine, it just uses a very, very close copy.

I love the pics I've seen of the Grifon. it's a fantastic looking maching... Here's more pics

But the frame, engine and suspension are apparently unchanged from the Hyosang, which is all not especially good news.

I though the sv engine was licence built by the Koreans and this is what they used. If the mechanicals are the same as the Comet then that's not good. Show and no go.

But if SUZUKI need ideas for the 2008 sv then just copy this.

There might be some element of that involved- the specs are very close to identical- but there's no shared parts. Both companies are very tight lipped on it Some say that the factory that makes the Hyosangs used to make SVs, but I've never seen anything to back that up. The lead designer of the Comet was one of the lead designers of the SV though, that's definately true.
