If me lock was that iced up, I'd take it as a sign and go back inside and have a nice cup of Coco until lthe winter was over!!

Seriously though, WD40 will disperse all the water (funnnily enough ) ... without water, the lock can't freeze!!

Putting salty water in there has to be the most ill thought out and ludicrous thing I have ever heard!!

Use WD-40 in the lock regularly (ie before it freezes) and you shouldn't have a problem.

Now why didn't I think of that???? My brain must have been frozen too!

I have just been given some ASSA Lock Spray, will this suffice?

My bike's in the garage so doesn't ice up, but no way this morning was I riding to work, the girl took the train and I took her car. Just aswell, there was ice everywhere, car was sliding all over the place and good few ice related accidents around. If you have to use the bike on days like today, fit stabilisers...

Salt! Use salted hot water water - it'll have a lower freeezing point (about - 8?) and shouldnt freeze up.

I didn't find it too bad this morning, its tomorrow im not looking forward to, the roads by me never get gritted, so the ride to work in the snow (if there is any) should be interesting
