I am nog planning to put the rear wheel on my SV. I just could do a good deal with the set of wheels and the front end. Normaly I will sell the rear wheel, but first I will look if it fits... you never know ...

Ah, I get it.

I can't see that pic, but the only R1 fronts I can remember were a Motomorphic special- which was lovely- and one that had a ton of custom work in order to use the SV wheel and discs.

You do get ace brakes- nothing wrong with my Tokico 4s but the blue-spots are just plain better.

So it might work brilliantly, I have honestly no idea, but you're giving away a big advantage I reckon.

On the other hand, doing it the cookie-cutter way like most folks do is just boring
Where do I get a GSXR front from Northy? And How much approx? My stockK1 forks put the sh*ts up me at low speeds.

How are they available anyway? Dont forks usually get mangled in bumps?

I got all mine on Ebay, but breakers can get them too. Forks don't always get hurt in crashes, race reps can easily be put beyond economic repair without damaging them... But you do have to be careful as Stu just found out, because it's all too easy to buy a bent part.

I think 21Quest still has his complete, bolt-in SRAD front end- that'd be an easy, excellent upgrade. You could get one cheaper, but you know all the bits'll be straight and it's an easy fit.

The fork looks traight by the first look, but one of the legs is leaking a bit of oil so I have to look for that. Every thing else is perfect.

I know who you are talking about northwind, the guy who had put 2 axles together to put the SV wheel on the R1 forks, he is crazy...

I will try to replace the steeringstem from the R1 with the SV one so I can keep the original bearings. Hopefully it will work without a lot of trouble, we will see.

Here a pic of the forks and calipers:

Mystic Northwind predicts- those clipons will be too low. Unless the yokes sit high, they'll probably foul the fairing, certainly the throttle cables will (and they're death to paint, by the way, like dragging a file over the fairings)

But that's OK, if they're 50mm forks they'll take loads of different clipons. Those actually look like aftermarket to me, if so they ought to be sellable

Does anybody know which gsxr model has the following dimensions for its triple tree (upper one)?

I need one like that because I cant install my ignition/key/lock on the R1 one...

Cheers.

This calls for a 21Quest All recent GSXRs with USD forks use 50mm top yokes... But the bottoms vary, and I'm not sure of the other numbers I'm afraid.

Those dimensions would rule out the SRAD and the recent Gixers ie K series. SRAD is 214mm center to centre and the 'K' series are 207 'C' to 'C'.

I'll check on the earlier Gixer(pre SRAD) tomorrow provided it doesn't skip my mind.
