I've only got the standard toolkit as I have breakdown cover i would prefer to be rescued than mess about. I do however have a disposable camera and a first aid kit.

This might be worth considering if you're building one from scratch (rather than building it from tools you already have).

HTML Code:

All I'll add to what the others have said is; There's little point carrying tools you don't know how to, or aren't prepared to use. If you're going to be relying on a mechanically competent kindly soul who stops to help, they'll probably have the necessary tools on them anyway (unless they're in their car!).

Matt.
IIRC correctly, the order of use is something like this:-

1) Insert spikey hook thing into hole and ram in and out a few times (oooeeerrr) to roughen up the edges.

2) Smear the spikey hook thing with glue and insert in to hole again to spread the glue around

3) Smear the rubber loop with glue

4) Hook the rubber loop onto the hook and insert 3/4 of the way into the hole

5) Cut of the excess on the outside of the hole

6) Connect the gas canister

7) Re-inflate and ride home

You do get instructions in the pack - i had never used one before, and managed to repair a tyre that was already several miles past it's 'best before date' and then ride 300 miles home with no problems whatsoever.

For years the REP&AIR Tubeless Tyres Kit (Motorcycle Puncture Repair Kit) has been part of the original equipment supplied by BMW. It provides a system to seal motorcycle tyre injuries without demounting the motorcycle tyre from the rim.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Have the motorcycle tyre checked/replaced/repaired by a motorcycle tyre specialist after max 400km (maximum speed 60km/h).
The kit for tubeless motorcycle tyres consists of:
3 x cartridges each 16gm
1 x adaptor
3 x super sealistic repair plug
1 x special cement BL tube
1 x inserting tool

Matt you've missed step 8 of that list

8. Get the p*ss ripped out of you, by myself, Scoobs and Liz whilst attempting to fix said puncture.

Under mine is normally, Waterproofs, Puncture Repair kit, Basic Suzuki tools

Cool Re: What's in the tool kit?

hi svrash,

plug wrench is the sticky point - they rarely come up on ebay so was looking for help sourcing an alternative such as a long reach socket or box wrench. Problem is it looks tight in there and my 16mm sockets don't seem to fit (CR8E plugs are 16mm hex size aren't they ?). Also suspect that a thin walled wrench is needed too.

Reason I need this is that my bike wont turn over after a few months of non use, tried battery etc but want to turn over now with no plugs in and a drop of oil to see if semi-seized....eek.
