yea i agree....the world is full of claimers....it makes far more sense to recover your losses your self..

do not exploit the system even though you will get exploited yourself one day...

But i really dont like the idea of holding someone to ransom to get some extra cash. In my opinion they should make good your losses...but you should not profit from an accident.

If the shoe was on the other foot how would you like it?

i gave the bloke a call yesterday, and told him i was all ok, i was quite shaken up at the site, and he was quite worried, but i said no damage to me, and minimal damage to my bike, so all was not to bad, i gave him the option of going throught the insurance or settleing privatly, he chose privatly. i said to him i would keep th cost down low and resonable, if he was a ****, i would have ordered all new parts, but he seems quiet a decent bloke, i went back to the accident site and found the heel plate at the side of the road, so all i need is a new hanger braket and fairing repair, so i guess about £110 should cover it.
simple and easy soloution )

bloody £93.57 for a rearset hanger bracket!!
and 19.85 for a heel plate!!

from mission motorcycles susuki dealer!!

oh well, glad i dont have to pay for it, and this bloke seems happy to do so, but what is an inconvienence is that the parts are out of stock and i wont be able to use my bike to go to work till late in the week, well at least im still alive!! lol

Reply to ASM-Forever, Dr Rich, stooster & lukemillar - this is nothing whatsoever to do with American style culture blah blah, Adam has been injured and his bike damaged through the fault of a driver, the whole insurance thing is there solely to deal with situations like this. OK his leg appears fine so he shouldn't claim for it, but he needs to get it checked out in case he's missed something, are you telling me you wouldn't claim for an injury caused by somebody else? We aren't talking about the guy paying out of his own pocket here, that's why we pay insurance.

Never mind "If the shoe was on the other foot how would you like it", if you were caused considerable ongoing pain and suffering through another road users fault, you would claim, believe me, ask anybody whose been injured, have you been?

if i was injured by someone else who had malisious intent, then with out a doubt i would sue, if i was in a more serious accident, and sustanded more injuries, i would most likely expect a pay out from thje insurance company, but in this case, there was no malisious intent, and was a pure and simple accident, no real damage has been done, he bloke is paying for damage to my bike, seems like a perfect soloution for this case, but like i said, if it had been more serious, then i would make good use of all the insurance premiums i have paid.
