In a related note, when you're taking the rear plastics apart, don't disconnect the pillion seat release cable from the lock side and then forget to re-attach it

I got a spare with the bike, that's always in my tank bag.

I got a spare cut, and that's kept in the house (no, I'm not saying where )

I got another spare cut, my dad has that. No risk of him stealing my bike, he hates the things

I got another spare cut, a mate has that, but I trust him enough (and I have the keys for his R1, so fair's fair )

Chances of me having to strip the bike to put a new ignition in after I've lost a key.... hmm....

All my SVs have come with 2 keys straight from the dealer.

You guys bought a bike with only 1 key?!

I have 2 spares (1 is the orginal spare key given at purchase still in its little plastic sleeve)

As for fitting what you done....3 and a half hours!! Blimey. You dont have to unlock the petrol cap to remove it at all. the seat unit is simple. I reckon, abotu an hour max all locks.

Wasn't there a little tag with the keys which had the key number on it? I was under the impression you could just order a new key if you had that number.

I just checked my handbook, The tag does in fact show the serial number of the key. There is a space in the handbook to record the number as well. Doesn't anyone on here know this?

I have got 2 keys . Presumeably, if I lose both, all I have to do is order some new keys quoting the serial number.

Am I missing some key fact here?
