if youve just come of your 33bhp, then you should be having lots of fun as it is, lots of perfecting to do with that extra power keeping it smooth and fast, and making the most of what you have, youll be suprised just how quick the sv650 can be just by taking the right line and putting the power down as early as possible, braking as late as possible.... trust me, so much extra speed to be gained in every other area apart form power

but, hey, if you did want to make it rev higher then you will be needign at least the following-
stronger lighter pistons stronger lighter con rods stronger lighter valves higher quality oil bla bla bla, depends how much cash you have to burn ![]() much cheaper and sensible to buy a faster bike, at the moment, im lusting over the gorgeous duke 998, will be mine soon!!!!! |

i had my bike restricted for a total of 4 hours!, i had ridden it the garage at full power when taking it to be restricted, riding it afterwards was sad, my car was faster than it!!! i loved it at full power, took my time finding my limits and perfecting the ride, now i think i have reached the bikes limits... but ive had the bike for 3 years now!! but i still love it

Cool, im hoping to keep mine for a good few years, its more than good enough for what I need and hopefully I will stay alive... I was looking at a cbr600fs instead but decided against it

As has been pointed out, the power drops off before the standard limiter, so no point going any higher anyway …
I hear what you say about getting used to using no revs. After many many years of non-vtwin when I first started on the SV it felt like every change was a short-shift!! ![]() |

IIRC northwind mentioned a SV400 CDI unit would fit the curvy SV, and raise the rev limit to something silly like 12,000 rpm.
The chances of your engine becoming so much expensive shrapnel at this point are rather large as the higher the revs go the greater the strain on pistons, crank and con-rods as the mass of the pistons flailing about becomes a fairly major issue. Plus as pointed out on standard setup there's no extra power to be had from it. HTH Jambo P.S Just found the link: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ighlight=SV400
