Does anyone locally run a course on how to do bike maintanence I would really like to learn how to do all this stuff myself.
unless the level was so low the pipe itself was empty then just topping up won't help as there'll be air in the system, so it will need bleeding.

As to learning, Some of the collages do basic maintinance courses, which are good grounding, but you're far better off getting someone local who knows what they're doing to come round nd assist you, or you go to them, most of the time it'll be at minimal cost and you'll learn by watching and asking questions. if you haven't yet, get your self along to either a Selkent/Essesx or Soho meet and ask the guys there, nothing you can think of hasn't been already covered at one point or another.

Cheers Mark.

I too suspect that the pads may be well worn. Not sure if pointys have the same piston sticking issues as curvys due to the better positioning of the caliper, but on a curvy the pads would almost certainly be binding. Make sure on the service that you specify the rear caliper be looked at, and cleaned. Don't be surprised if you need new pads Guessing maybe £50 on top of the service price. Ask the mechanic if you watch what he does and then try and regularily clean the brake. Not the outside but where it matters.
