I think Northy was saying..."On standard SV's putting 4-pots on could cause you more problems than it solves."

In your case though, you already have good front end upgrades to make the most of them.

Remember a pair of 4-pots may require a new master cylinder to match, other wise that extra 'feel' you're after might not materialise.

Yes I know what Northwind and others are saying. I just don't think(now) that's so much the case .

I think the SV calipers work good myself as never really had a problem stopping but they are a pain in the proverbial(for me) to keep them working good.

Ben

ps: The GSXR use the basically the same master cyliner I believe.

Really? I fitted GSX-R calipers using the brackets from highspeedassult. Using the SV master cylinder I found they were too spongy, only swapping for an old GSX-R master cylinder made them work properly.

Maybe down to personal preference, but if you're going to undertake this project I'd certainly factor in the possibility you'll need a new master cylinder.

They are the same Master cylinders, perhaps you had an airlock you couldn't shift?....

I'm in the process of trying to sorting out some adapter plates so I can use the calipers off the SV1000, GSXr600(K1-K4) and GSXR 750(K1-K3). They'll be CNC machines out of Aluminium and anodised to what ever colour takes my fancy. My reason for wanting to change the calipers is simple. I find four piston calipers easier to maintain.

It'll be going on standard forks by the way . I'm happy with the springs on my bike for what I use it for and with the oil change I've just done, It's working good for me.

My initial thought on caliper change was the same as most have said here but actually when you think of it, that's not strictly the case.
Braking pressure is modulated by your right hand like and so if any thing you should be able to modulate the about of braking better with the GIXER calipers .

As the little man said "watch this space" if you like as this is one of my "thought of" MODs that I'm definitely making time for.

I'm 99.99% sure. Northwind should be able to confirm though as I think he has looked at it in some detail.
Bore(5/8 ) is definitely the same. The SV1000 I think uses a slightly smaller or slight larger bore though(can't remember). The GSXR1000 K3/K4 actually uses a 14mm bore master cylinder. Of course the bore is only one aspect in the equation.

I really don't think a master cylinder change would be a neccessity. Maybe your SV master cylinder was not in good shape .

No price mate. Mainly doing it for myself. Once it's all done and I'm happy, I'll let folks have the option for a possible one off batch of the plates. It'll probably be two weeks before all measurements are done as I'm fairly busy next couple of weeks.
