even though i havnt even got on the road with my sv yet im staying loyal! i rekon that the sv could easily nip at the heals of an ss600 simply because of the power mapping, it has a steady power curve right from low down where as the ss600s have it all very much top end at say above 12000-13000 now getting up there to start with if your doing about 4000 goin through a bend if you dont change down that is its going to take a bit of time!

going off paper figures the sv in the twisties would put up a v decent scrap against a ss600.

thats my 2 peneth!

!!! I think that's a bit incorrect in this context, what I would say is that above 10k is a SS600's best spot, however that is way above the SV! From about 6k+ my GSX-R has the SV's power. I will say that having now lived with 920 miles of GSX-R the SV is definitely easier to launch and is torquier down low, however that is really only an issue below 6k. So implying that a SS600 will have to stay above 12k to match an SV is wrong - it doesn't.

I find my GSX-R turns quicker than the SV, too!

Yeh i hear what your saying lynw, i never said how far behind mind you .. I just think that even with the SV's grunt it's not as smooth or as light as the new ss600's such as the CBR600rr if you had to choose a weapon would it be the SV or the CBR600rr, i sure know which i would choose!! Two capable riders knowing what they are doing this could be a good one for a magazine, must get in touch with Bike and see what they think!!!

No its not a trick question and no I've not been drinking.

Remember I'm talking about the current crop of SS600's which from the experience I've had when I've been lent a GSXR-6 pull from 4K and then really start to pull from 6K.

Remember I'm not talking about novice riders, I'm talking about two equally experienced riders of the same ability on a piece of road that they both know. Or if you like the same rider, riding the same section of road on both bikes.

If you put it that way, well i'd win on my SV, mainly because i'd be dead by the time i near the finish line on the ss600.

im going to have to go for the super sports, but to be honest, i think most people will be suprised that the ss600 will just scrape above the SV.

the give away is in the name really.

better suspension, brakes, gearing, tyres, and power all over really.

I assumed it was the same rider on each bike. I'm sure a novice wouldn't be much quicker on the SS600 than on the SV650s but I bet a skilled/quick rider would be significantly quicker on the SS600 than on the SV650s. He'd be wringing the neck of both machines, and obviously the SS600 ultimately has a fair bit more to offer. It's like WSBK vs. Moto GP bike. Obviously one is significantly quicker, but only great riders could demonstrate that.

Not even a race. The 600 will win...maybe no walkover but a win for sure.

That's why SV cost 4 grand and 600 more.

But a better rider would certainly beat a lesser rider on either bike so it is a closer one than first appears.
