This is the reason STOLEN, the RM went through a period of not recruiting properly and not vetting all employees, they have learned from this mistake and are now doing recruitment properly again, all you need is a sneaky delivery postman? some offices have good delivery records and some are very poor. now that commercial freedom is now available i'd say send your post with another Carrier but i think you will have the same results or worse, its a shame but not everyone in this world is trustworthy if i have an item of value i always send recorded, special delivery or registered, this way a signature is needed.

Thats what I'd read, but thought I'd better check it. Turns out its only: nearly 300 000

A girlfriend of mine had made me a parcel for my birthday packed with things she'd made/spent a lot of time on, plus personal letters etc. It got stolen in the post. So she made another one- which took a few weeks, posted it recorded delivery....Still got stolen. Monetary value? minimal, Help from royal mail? none. That was the last time anything was sent through the Wirral branch.
My mum posts cds to customers with example tracks for her hypnotherapy business. The majority of these go 'missing'. If there was one thief in the line they would realise they're crap and stop. We must be up in to the hundreds of cds stolen now.

Correct £34 is std maximum compensation if you don't pay for more. Have to wait 15 days
Don't get any compensation for postage or packaging costs so if you've fiddled your ebay fees with a low sales value high postage cost then you will lose out from the RM - that's if you tell them it's an ebay item & use that to justify value.
Otherwise I guess you can use whatever you like to justify value.
You don't have to have a certificate of posting but it helps.

300,000 items a week?

sounds a lot...

until you find out they deliver on average 82 million items of mail a day

the post office dont make it easy to claim do they?

i sent off the form, with the origanal recept of postage, & now they send my a letter back saying that they need the origanal postage recipt, which i have already sent them, you can even see the stapple where i stappled it to, good job i photo copied it b4 sending

they also want a recipt to prove to cost of the item, which i sent with the parcel which is lost

plus............. my mother sent some birthday presants to bradford which has also gone missing.

although this is the first problem i have had with the PO for it to happen twice in a week............? ?
