Same as tricky woos. Make sure thy can reach the pegs and get arms around you to reach the tank to support themselves under braking.

Totally depends on the child's attitude and knowledge of motorcycles. Just check this out, says it all

i would have no problem taking a kid out on the back of a bike but i would choose the bike to fit them. Ive taken my neighbours 5yr old on the back off my bonneville which has a sissy bar/proper back rest so he couldnt slide off the back. I wouldnt however stick him on the back of a gsxr1000 because that would be silly. I find I have to adjust my riding to make it a lot smoother and less aggressive when i have a pillion and doubaly so when its a kid. I still remember my first time out on bike from when i was 5 or 6 on the back of a friend of my dads bike. It was awesome and led to me making him get a moto-x bike later on which in turn lead to me never getting around to getting a car.

The way you ride etc is all relative. I bimble along on quite roads, enjoying the freedom together. Why should I enjoy it and then not allow them too? I never accelerate hard, always smooth on the breaks, and believe me my awareness skills are at the max!!
There is no question of their personal ability to ride pillion safely, the question is whether you are happy them being 'on a bike'. My response to that is that it feels hypocritical of me to tell them what a lovely day out I have had, but then not allow them to enjoy the same with me. |

My son's terrified of my bike...I've only managed to get him to sit on it once and he was shaking like a leaf. He's 8 and even if he was happy to sit on the bike I don't think he's mature enough to ride pillion...bless!
