I'd deffo recommend the SV as a beginners bike. The linear power of the V twin is excellent. Plenty of grunt there for you as your experiance grows. In the right hands (not mine
![]() Good range of aftermarket products for them too. You can bling it up or tune it up! Tons of pretty plastic etc available. Hordes of chassis improving parts and an engine that can be breathed on with good results too. It really is a bike that will grow with your ability if you want it too. In standard guise its pretty damn good as well. ![]() |

yes the sv650 is a excellent bike for new riders as i found last summer after finally getting round to passing my test. its not intimidating like some middle weight bikes are when uve just passed ur test. and when ur experience grows an sv650 is well capable of embarrasing litre sports bikes

Of course you'll need to get a 33bhp restricted one at first. Still plenty quick enough for straight after your test.

Misfire on one cylinder, wet plug or loose electrical/coil connections?

Hi Korben
the SV is a great bike for those in the early days of riding providing you get to know the (few) things to look for and how to keep them in good order. If you're seriously looking, I have a 2001 SVS for sale, see here for my post. PM me if interested, I can tell you all about it.
