Altberg boots. Incredibly good fit. Very comfy. Crash much better than you'd think. Last forever (and almost every part of them can be replaced/repaired by Altberg), plenty of people have had over 100K miles out of them! Most importantly of all - they are actually waterproof. As in, I have ridden through a river in them and been in pouring rain for 6 hours at a stretch and they haven't let a drop in.
Not particularly expensive considering what they are/how long you'll have them for, either. |

I have a pair of SMX3 Gore-tex as well, worn for just over 2 years never leaked. In fact last summer I walked into the sea to wash the crud off them and they didn't leak.

I have had 4 pairs of Black rains, and its the pair that are the oldest and with a hole in the side of the boot that leaked the least, i still have them. However, im sure the black rains now have a goretex lining which would be better.
I now have the same as fizz, ASSM3 goretex. They are a year old tomorrow...well, i got them a year ago and they are to date |

Second what CeriJC says about Altberg, I know guys that swear by them. If you can get to the factory shop in Kendall (or is it Keswick?) they often have cosmetic seconds loads cheaper. Personally I don't like the styling so don't have them.
I recently bought Alpinestars SMX-4 goretex jobbies. They kept me dry and warm on the AE07 paddleout and in the camoing field. Very impressed so far. |

Got a pair of Daytona RoadStar GTXs that I've had about 6 years and done maybe 70,000 miles in and they've never leaked a drop. They ain't cheap, but I've never had to buy another pair of waterproof boots since paying £200 for them. Worn all year round when the weather is foul and they still look pretty good and have loads of sole left.
When Daytonas wear out you can have them fully rebuilt for 60% of the cost of a new pair. Can't do that with Sidis or Alipinestars. My new sports boots will also be Daytonas now my slipper-like Gerickes have finally bitten the dust - a pair of black Evo Sports is the next purchase. |

Those on the AR07 will know I had boot problems that had to be cured with a knife (Thanks Quiff). They were a cheap pair of so called water proof boots I bought about 4 years ago on line for about £50. The make is Raven. I do not know if you can still get them. Well don't.
The zip fobs snapped some time ago. but recently the waterproofing was called into question on the north south and totally destroyed by the AR07. It would appear the waterproofing is provided by bin bags duck taped into the boot and hidden by the lining. When the bags get worn through, they leak, the lining then falls apart and comes out with your foot requiring removal in order to put foot in boot again. So now in need of new boots I will watch this thread with interest

If you got 4 years out a 50 quid pair of Rayvens then you did well. That's £12-50 a year to keep your feet dry...pretty good VFM if you ask me.
If you want any more than that then you'll have more success trying to score a drug-free night out with Pete Doherty and a weekend fighting alongside the Taliban with the Pope as your commanding officer. |
