747 ? no 747 flying there mate....
they canceled and re-arranged a few flights, but wasnt sure of what was up anyway today.... but didnt see a 747 at all today, also the Vulcan was canceled, as its not back together yet, but was announced they expect that to be up and running within a month... Its next year I wanna find out whats over.. as I have been reading romours of the US sending over their new toy.... P.S. Im sunburnt.. as in beetroot red at the moment.... which is better than tomorrows forecast of rain.. lots of it at times! Last edited by valleyboy; 14-07-07 at 09:44 PM. |

The 747 was supposed to be one of the highlights according to a workmate. He said you'd never look at a Jumbo the same way ever again (that was the promise).
If Raptor's going to be there next year I'm getting a dry suit and a snorkel! (just in case) Maybe try for Elvington or Duxford if the Vulcan is that near to flying this year |

I was told the Vulcan should be ready in about a month or so, and have also read on other sites that the Raptor may be coming over to Fairford for next year... should be interesting to watch!
No 747 on display, or flying today, possibly if it was due to fly, there was low cloud in the morning, so they may have canceled it.. |

Was there an F117 flying? Last time I went there was one in the static display, but I'd like to see one flying

Yup, the F-117 was flying... no B2 this year though, or B-52's flying, one on display as usual though... (B-52 not B-2)

Sounds like they had an impressive show, glad you had a good time.
I saw the B2 (was it last year or the year before?) which was very impressive, and I've always liked the B52 - the fact that it's been flying for 50+ years now and still on frontline duty is very impressive. I rather like the B1 as well - having one of them flying towards you at over mach 1 would scare the pants of you! Oh, one thing that did disappoint me the last time I went was the scarcity of the hot donut machines. That was a real backwards step. |

The B2 hasn't been there for at least 3 years. It may have been there for the Stealth theme in 2004 but I'm not sure.
I had the privelige last year to sit in the pilots seat of the B1 Lancer. Wow. What an awesome machine, and it looks so graceful too. Also had a guided tour of a C17 Globemaster. Jeez, that thing is huge. Not as big as a C5 Galaxy, but big enough!! Oh yeah, I also got to touch a Dragon Lady. If you know what one of those is???

Sorry Veeb. The B2 didn't fly in 2005, it wasn't even there. I was. For the whole 3 days. B1, B52 and even a Lanc. But no B2.
