Million miles to the tank, comfy and well protected from that nasty wind, rain and snow. It has built in crash bars that are better than any crash bung.
But is it worth small children mocking you, as they cross the street, as you sit at traffic lights?

I'd rather be uneconomic and cold....but sexy on the R6.

White boots would look rather sad on a Deauville.

The Deuville is to winter commuting what an RCV112 was to MotoGP, they're absolutely ace. But not usually that easy to find cheap, because they're so incredibly good at what they do.

I'm planning to get a winter hack with 4 wheels and a roof, though

Don't dismiss Chinese out of hand

I had a Chinese traily last winter. The build quality was pants but for £700 for a brand new bike it was Ok. It looked pretty good to.

I know lots of people (on the web) who love them.

It took a bit of fettling to get it sorted but once I'd got the bugs ironed out it wasn't a bad bike. My main problem with it was it was so slow. I'd filter up the middle of two lines of traffic at some lights and then have to do a MotoGP start to get ahead of a RAV4 or something to get back in lane !
