I'd rather see a 'real' petrol head on there. Clarksons's credentials are obvious and May's are pretty solid too. It's just the rodent that lets things down for me.

Just becasue he works on day time rubbish dosn't detract from topgear, the man is entitiled to earn money after all. I think May is the worst presenter their, lets face it if you were going to pick one person to host the show for a week I know who it wouldn't be. Although I really like Clarkson I think he need someone to bounce the jokes off, Hammond is ideal.

Also anyone who drives a 300mph dragster crashes, nearly kills themselves in the process and then is racing 18months later is a petrol head in my book.

Well it does for me - though I'll accept I'm an irrelevant majority. I just can't take anything he says seriously. All I see is a TV add smile and too much makeup.

If he was only there to have the pyss taken and he couldhn't drive or talk about cars then that might just about be ok in my book. I guess it's all about taste. For me if Hammond were left presenting it I wouldn't watch it.

It would be... wrong (can't think of a better word) not to concede at least something to this point. So consider it conceded.

You take one out of that equation and the show fails, part of why I like it is the fact that its like watching 3 school boys mucking about and ripping the mick out of each other, they all bring different things to the show, if you take one away it wont be as good.

Its Top Gear, you arent ment to take it seriously
