perhaps i got the wrong end of the stick, but i thought i heard somewhere that taking the baffle out can affect the engine, something to do with fuel or something or other

and that adjustments would have to be made to make the bike run at optimum leve;?

Narr.

It's a bit more free flowing, but only a bit so it doesn't make it go that lean

never had a baffled variety in three years..in either
They may be a little on the loud side, but, according to this months RIDE mag the unbaffled variety are better for the environment, so on that note i shall carry on deafening people in the knowledge that its better for us all if they both stay that way

That is all

Does make a difference though.

Used to have a race can on my SV, 'till I put a road legal one back on for an MOT. I noticed a boost in mid range with the road legal can, so I'm keeping it on the bike

That's REALLY unlucky!

I got stopped by a police motorbiker stopped on the side of the road with a hair-dryer, given 3 points for speeding - yet he didn't even mention my exhaust, even when he must have seen the 'for competition use only' stamp when he looked at the back for the registration plate! Very odd considering his reason for doing the stopping at that place was due to 'Complaints of Traffic Noise'. Not that I was complaining!

Well I may remove the baffle this weekend just to see how it sounds. Are the fuel ones hard to get out and replace?

When I bought my bike (almost exactly a year ago), it came with the Micron can and I didn't have a CLUE what a baffle was ... until I got it home and the bloke who lives across the road came out to see what the noise was and said, "You've definitely not got any baffles in there" LOL

So the Micron (and the bike) didn't come with any baffles ... but I DID make sure I got the original exhaust for MOT time

Original can was put back on last November (for MOT) and was not replaced with the Micron until after winter (around February sometime). Been riding it since then with the Micron on, and no baffles and not been pulled so far ... but then I tend not to rev the nuts off it whilst round town. Although I'm sure the neighbours love me when I leave for work at 6am

Oh and as someone else mentioned, if I have to pass police cars then I dip the clutch and coast past them (if it's safe to do so).

I did the bike safe course with no baffles in my blue flame exhaust. The cop I was with said it was good I had a loud can because he could tell when I was changing gear!
And if its better for the environment then I feel I have a moral obligation to pop a race can on my sv..

Managed to blow the baffle out in the south of France, so not a lot of choice at the moment, must get some more for MOT time next year.
