You should get a good enough deal on a new machine.......0% is hard to beat (are they still taking a £1 deposit I wonder?). That's how I bought mine and you can get an alarm and other essentials (you know, the "I'll get around to having one fitted" stuff) like a Scottoiler included in the finance.

Yes, they are offering 0% over 36 months, don't know how much deposit. Have got Cupar down to £4k on the road, including restrictor (I'm still on 33bhp till next year) and will ask for a scottoiler too. Is there anything else worth getting at the time? Thanks for the welcome.

I also gotta say the Viagra 535 is a brilliant wee bike I hired one in Portugal and loved it...

It'll be good to see you about...

Keep smiling and enjoy the ride...
I loved my Virago! Still got the 125 version in the garage, it's good fun. Thanks!

Depends on what you want TBH, you could get a hugger, new exhaust, bellypan, scottoiler... the world is your shellfish of choice... it all depends on how you want the bike to act and look, how many of these things you're gonna get anyway over the next three years and whether you can afford repayments.

By the way, welcome aboard!

Yeah, push for a bit more than that on a naked. The SV650S is £4K, naked should be at least a couple of hundred quid cheaper.

Ok, I will try for a bit more off then. I remember reading about a problem with water ingress that the rear hugger solved? If so, I think I'll be wanting one of them, I'll be riding it through winter.

A fender extender is good idea to avoid a wet front cylinder spark plug chamber in winter. Another very common problem, but it seems to affect some bikes and not others. Some people have a fender extender fitted free under warranty if the problem occurs, so maybe you don't want to use up 'bargaining points' on the fender extender when "perhaps" you can get one free later anyway.

It's only occurred once on mine and that was because the mechanic at Saltire had changed the plugs but not refitted the rubber skirt over the top of the chamber properly so water was free to just pour in. It's never happened since. Some folk ride for years and never have the problem, others have bikes that die every time it rains.

Silicon gel round the rubber skirt or a fender extender fixes it.

Also see this thread of mine http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=97198 (scroll down a bit for pictures). It's worth taking careful measures to protect your front forks in winter, coat with F365 or petroleum jelly. I used WD40 and weekly cleaning last winter and it obviously didn't work!
