I wonder - what is the purpose of a noise limit? Esp for a non competitive event like a trackday.

Its to stop the whining neighbours who live near the track.

To try not to p**s off the locals and the Council.

Yeah the same locals that most of them have probably purchased their houses long after the tracks were built, so what did they expect.
Silverstone is so big I can't believe they have neighbours that close (?).

I used to live 4 miles as the crow flies to silverstone and could hear the racing going on.

There are people that live very close to the track. The village of silverstone is only over the dual carriageway.

Some of them probably bought houses a few decades back under the pretext of that it'll be noisy a few times a week, mostly at weekends, but now it'll more likely be some trackday or testday every day of the week so the council has to appease the houses and put a sound limit. You'll still hear us from the houses though...

A few of my family lived about two miles from a decent theme park and could here screaming from the rollercoasters during most afternoons...

Oh and my bosses know someone who bought a house in silverstone assuming that the only time there would be noise was on the Formula 1 weekend!!

That hilarious! You think they would have checked. Is there any plan to book another track day later in the year?
