I'm aiming to set off really early (sunrise 4.45) and make a days riding of it, come rain or shine, it's riding and I enjoy that, from a 183 mile direct route, I'll make it about 350-400, to be honest the ride down has become an indulgent treat for me for the last few years.

I enjoy riding in the rain for those reasons too. The only thing I openly dislike is that it dirties the bike, but you can't have it all ways
