With SV engine braking hardly need brakes, except to come to final stop.....

When I next swapped the disc I think I went for an EBC (or I may have even stuck with a warranty Armstrong can't quite recall) I also researched for Nissin brand four pot calipers and bought those. One of those two things, or both fixed it. I also remember ****ing around with the spindle and fork alignment alot and checking the magnets but think that was just unfounded worry.

I know people swear by Tokico, but my findings were that they were wank - I had had two sets before the Nissin.

I think it was an impromptu/unintended endo over the crest of a hill on a GM ride that made me overhaul

callipers are radial 4 pot and well serviced. i done a complete strip and overhaul every year till about 4 years ago and since then i have only done about 2k miles. first two sets of discs were black shadow then a set of ebay specials. i have now put EBC on and i'll see how they go. BTW the pistons in the radial callipers are coated so dont rust. i have replace bearings, spindle, wheels etc.etc.

brakes are now nice and smooth, so far.

i'm not heavy on my brakes unless i need to be.

bike is running but still a bit hesitant at WOT and bogs down. i hope its just stale fuel.

Putting Ethanol in fuel is a bad move, bugs can grown in it and ethanol combines with any water in there to make bug food and produces acid..

Last couple of years have used this http://sta-bil.co.uk/ in cars ( during lockdown ), bikes and lawnmower over winter - they all started fine and ran cleanly.

Then there is always Redex ( ducks )....

I have used the Sta-bil, and there is a noticeable effect from it, just running the engine. The bike starts much more easily and runs more smoothly. The effect continues for several tanks full of fuel after the Sta-bil has run through.

The Redex I find just makes the bike smell like it's running on central heating oil with no real improvement in starting or performance.

I started using Redex many years ago in a carbed DRZ400 that would not start after winter layup without a whole tin of easy start spray and then ran horrible - with redex it started as normal after 5 months layup... Also used in mower that would not start in spring - then again started pretty much as normal. Now in these green biofuel ethanol days ( grown on areas that used to be rainforest LOL ) I use Sta-Bil over winter and redex during 'mowing and biking season' (which seem to cover the same period these days ) .. never had a fuel system problem since...

i think the bike is just needing a good run. i have ordered some fuel stabiliser as the bike can sit there for months not being used. TBH i have never had a problem with stale fuel.

I have Briggs and Stratton stabilizer - it does seem to work ok.
Redex saved me a carb strip - took a couple of weeks but eventually cleared the carbs so I bung a drop in my various tanks now and again

Had some hesitation and bogging on the both the Gixxer and SV last season. Balanced the throttles on the sv and made no difference so when getting gsxr ready for this year I braved changing the teabag filter in the fuel pump and that seems to have sorted it. Sv is 2007 and gsxr 2008 both still original owner filters. The gsxr was left unused with small amount of fuel in tank still for about 6 years prior to my ownership.

I used Redex on the VFR when I first acquired it. It was a bit hesitant on small throttle openings giving a jerky ride, nothing serious but noticeable. The bike has been in the showroom for some time and I wondered if the injectors were a bit gummed up. Redex seemed to fix it and I now use it at the start of the riding year.
