Re: 2019 - ride out with an overnight?
Looking at those crossing times, if it were me I'd come down on the Thursday and stay somewhere, Youth Hostel or similar. You'll have a long day the next day, and every chance of a fairly late night. Overnight in Dublin will at least give you a fighting chance of lasting the Friday out.

Maiden packing attempt. I'd made a list of stuff I'd need for pretty much all of my adventures this year, so far the inner bag on the left has 3 items in it....
Haven't got as far as considering clothing |

Yes clothing would be good, the rest of us would appreciate it.
I've lost count of the number of times I've forgotten my shoes.

Re: 2019 - ride out with an overnight?
I know we are fairly used to it having been on many, many £9.50 Sun weekends over the years and a few euro tours but in 2017, Mrs Lom packed 17 days worth of kit for a tour round the Balkans into 1 Honda VFR1200F pannier in 8 minutes and didn't forget a thing. Respect

Suitably impressed I'm basing all of my packing on having to carry sleeping bag so I should really have more space for my trips before Wales.
It'll be a late decision on each trip on whether to pack or wear textile trousers |

Re: 2019 - ride out with an overnight?
Last year and the year before my mate Mick and I took my daughters pillion on the bikes up to Scotland for a few days. With the exception of two pairs of trainers which went in Mick's panniers, I got everything my girls and I needed for the trip into an expanded tank bag!

Re: 2019 - ride out with an overnight?
I was trying to find a few more pictures of the routes we'll be doing on the rideouts, but I have no more relevant photos. This means, of course, that as soon as the weather warms up a couple of degrees, and the roads are clear of salt, I shall be needing to get out for a ride with the camera. Tough job eh?
