I was up in the hills today on the pushbike again, absolutely fantastic... Got some fresh snow fall as well, which is ideal as it's nice and soft to fall off into.
The best bit was, after riding 20 miles on snow and ice, I found an old boy trying to take his dog for a walk on one of the icy paths. "Watch out son", he says, "The bloody council haven't gritted it". It's an earth footpath up a hill in the middle of nowhere, about 4 miles from any tarmac! Maybe they could attach grit dispensers to the backs of ramblers, or something. Got a bit stuck at times

My parents pay one of the top bands of CTax in HX....for their contribution they got precisely no gritters at all this week, and its quite a densely populated residential area too, so there shouldn't be any arguements with it. Unfortunately Reg the next door neighbour, whos in his 80s, went off for the morning paper yesterday, only to slip and fall, on the bottle ice. He must have banged his head or something because he couldn't remember where he was, or where he lived...and hes a cool old biker dood with all his own marbles in tact. Fortunately it was concusion and he didn't didn't break anything.
I pay the least amount of Ctax and I've seen the gritter around four times today, and ones just gone past again. My dad said to me on the phone there never used to be a problem years ago because my godfather used to do the gritting and he always kept the roads clear round my parents house. Not anymore it seems.
