Lost out on the Spotmatic. He sold it rather quickly unsurprisingly!

I was looking on Gumtree and spotted a Lowepro Mini Trekker AW backpack for £10. Went out after work to collect and we got chatting. Happened to mention that I collect cameras and he says wait here. Comes back with a MASSIVE box of cameras, lenses etc. Anyways, he pulls out an old AGFA, then comes a Minolta SRT901 with 50mm f1.4 (bit ratty) Brownie, Baby Brownie and an old Kodak developing tank. And then this appears:

I had only brought enough cash for the bag so I had to go find a cash point. But I have been lusting after one of these for a long time.

Nice find. Did you pick up the Minolta (901?? ~ or 101) with the 1.4 too?

No, the focus on the lens seemed gummed up. Is it a good camera? All I know is was it was black with some brassing.

If it was an SRT101, they are meant to be good. Solid old workhorse cameras, manual and mostly mechanical I think. Shame about the lens; 1.4 would be good.

Just realised it was a Fujica ST901.

No response from the X700. Tried new batteries but the mirror is still locked up and the advance is locked too. Have read that these suffer from dead capacitors.

This can happen to all the X series. There are 2 capacitors I think. From what I've read, it's not a difficult fix. The capacitors are easy to get at so it's just a matter of buying a couple online and soldering them in. Plenty of info online if you google it. The capacitors are cheap and will be well worth it if you can bring the camera back to life.
