My VFR was dragged out of hibernation this weekend. Did some pre MOT checks and all good. Installed new rear brake pads that I bought two years ago after the MOT tester mentioned they were getting low! Started first time too. Now to book an MOT.

Fitted new sat Nav & mount/bracket. Stripped down some other panels ready for the new accessory module to be installed, and wire up my spotlights to.

Woke the bike up from it's winter hibernation and checked it over for an upcoming MOT. Disassembled and cleaned out the starter motor switchgear - the starter switch was sticking, which seems to be a common problem on the Yamaha triples. Also fitted a radiator guard and a fender extender after loose chippings on a newly resurfaced B road last year left the radiator and downpipes a bit worse for wear .

Checked the bike over ready for a ride out on Tuesday. Front offside caliper was binding so I took it off to have a look and ended up fitting the two calipers my mate had refurbed with s/s pistons and given to me.
I'll take the bike for a quick spin into town tomorrow just to make sure it's all ok. |

Today I stuck the stock spacers back in my forks after fitting KTechs yesterday. Didn't need to make up a longer spacer after all.

BTW believe me or not... but there should be no need to check rider sag as you cant alter it without altering the bike sag. adjusting one will adjust the other. its best to adjust for bike sag only. checking the rider sag is only to make sure that you have the correct rate springs. springs are only there to support the weight of bike and rider its the dampening that makes the difference and with the SV its rebound that you want to concentrate on as the compression is pretty good. |

ignore the spacer thing i'm wrong. you need to cut the spacers to achieve the correct bike sag when the adjusters are in the middle.

I have changed almost everything on my suspension, I am not a expert but as long as you can get the correct sag measurement with in you preload adjustment I wouldn't cut the spacer tubes. Mine is about 1 full turn from all the way out. I could cut maybe 1/4 inch off the tubes but why if it's correct as it is. As I said no expert.
