Always nice to have a scenic road all to yourself Chris

I almost laughed out loud today on my way home from a shopping expedition into London. Before getting on the 18:35 from Marylebone I got a Bacon Double Cheese XL meal from Burger King as I was jolly hungry and took it on to the train with me. The seats in the train are way more comfy than the plastic seats outside BK on the concourse, they're not covered in pigeon poop and you're not asked if you have any spare change every two minutes. Posh looking woman gets on a few moments after me, goes to sit down on the other side of the aisle, spots me taking the first bite from the burger and stomps off to the other end of the carriage muttering "disgusting" just loud enough for me to hear. The guy opposite me tittered and it was only 'cos I is polite that I didn't laugh with me gob full, or it would have pebble-dashed the whole area.

Plenty of people eat on the train and it's not like I was tucking in to smoked mackerel and pilchard sandwiches, or sushi, or any number of stinky foods. Plus being ravenous it was all gone in five minutes anyway. Perhaps she was a rabid vegetarian or on one of those fad diets when you only eat on every other Tuesday and she was feeling hard done by?

Some folk spend their lives looking for something to be offended by, whinge at or moan about.

Hate cycling on that road but it's not too bad on the bike

Just had a phone call from my solicitor to say the sale of my mums house has completed, and the money will be transferred today, so her residential care funding is assured until that pot runs out.

Just for a change a house sale that went through smoothly and no hiccups

Yep, its not right in my mind, you work your whole life, pay your taxes and contribute, but you've got to sell your biggest asset to fund your end of life care.

Better to die suddenly and leave a legacy to the children or grandchildren.

Still my mums in a great home & being looked after really well. So that's good

Several people we know have taken up SKI'ing after retiring (Spending the Kids Inheritance) they are spending it while they are still alive. My brother was made redundant at 63 after a lifetime working and paying taxes, could not get any benefits as he has 'assets' (mainly his hard earned home and savings). Seems to me that scrotes who hardly did a days work in their life will get looked after by state when they need care in old age, and won't have to worry about selling a house they don't own to get it.

To get an even better deal they can move north of the border.

Mav, cant remember if I posted this comment before so here goes....about 3 years ago I approached my solicitor in the UK to see if there was anyway around this having to sell your house for nursing/care home fees in later life!and in a nut shell the answer was NOT MUCH. He said. 1. Signing it over to the kids(2) now I’m 63,he said MHRC can say you’ve done this to avoid selling and can hit them with a massive bill + if your kids separate their partner is entitled to half of your kids half so can cause big big problems. 2. sell up and down size, spend the kids money!enjoy it while your here or give some money to your kids while your alive in bits and bobs. 3. He could write a Trust thing out that made sure if me or Mrs B have to go in a Nursing/ care home they can only take 50% of the value of the house once you have both died BUT if both of you are in homes they can take the full amount (value of house). So in brief, the *******s have sown it all up for us working people good style,no or very little to be passed on to our loved ones despite working and paying taxes all your life while those at the top eat cake every day.
