Nah, they'd never get on. They'd try to get in each other's way, or try to get the others to back out. My bet is, if it's a hung parliament, they'll go for another election in a couple of months time.

A bit obvious but probably has more than a grain of truth in it.

Brilliant! That's pretty much how I think of them. Power, it's what they want, for them, and them only. Why else are we part of the EU? More power, more money, for them, and their mates. I tell you, if MP's were offered my yearly salary, they'd soon find another job. Because there's bugger all money. Let's see them manage on less than 20k a year and no expenses account!

TBH I think MP should be quite low paid, attract people to do the job as a service to their country not so their country can serve them.

Interestingly, I heard judges were highly-paid, to reduce the temptation of corruption.

V. Ghey! As long as they bring in some kind of PR. The adversarial government we have ATM only really works with a duopoly (i.e. lab/con) and for many years has basically disenfranchised LibDem, Green, UKIP and other assorted lunatic-party supporters.

The counter-argument in favour of coalition is the U.S. system, where the Republicans currently exist solely to oppose the Democrats, and any legislation is argued over, salami sliced and filled with pork to buy Congressional votes. Look what happened to the universal health-care legislation. Any hope of restricting America's health-care inflation has gone, because reforms to how to charge for medical services to prevent pointless scans and treatment were strangled to get the bill through.
