Checked and no compression, took valve covers off from cylinder, timing OK. still not seeing any thing that really worried me. So need to get the head off.

the bolts on the exhaust studs are solid. I have been soaking them with wd40 this week. got at them with socket last night and the nuts like cheese. Started to turn them and the corners just came off. Got a smaller socket and hammered it on, same thing the bolts just rounded. So I will need to get them off and then I think I will get the head off and hope fully that will show me damaged or stuck valve.

As I say youll see a valve stuck open because its clearance to the cam will be much bigger than the manual figure...

Unfortunately it almost certain they will snap off as steel into aluminium + time and corrosion = pain

The studs on my front header were in a shocking state. They looked less like studs and nuts and more like rusty spikes with no discernible thread or nut. I didn't have the facilities at the time to change the front header myself so I took it to a local place who were very good and removed them without having to resort to drilling and retapping the head. They said that they managed to remove them with a combination of penetrating oil and heat.

Finally got the cam covers off. Can look fine timing looks fine. So took the cylinder head off.

Once the cylinder head was off I turned the engine over by hand. All sounds good.

have a look at the youtube video here

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/l5NbmFJmUC4

have a look at the valves

so the engine is turning freely, no rattle. so how do I check the valves? what am I looking for

Must admit nothing obvious so far is there. Can you put the sparkplug back in and then pour some thin liquid into the upturned head to check the valves are sealing well in their seats? Paraffin or similar for leak test...

Another thing might be a loose clutch basket.

But there seems to be loss of compression on cylinder 1...

Seeing as you have the engine stripped that far down, you may as well take the barrel off & check the bottom end bearing, you would still have compression anyway. Cant see how you have no compression looking at the valves, seems very strange. I had a bike once that the front cylinder was about 15 - 20 psi less than the rear, but still ran fine.
As I said before, it's always worth determining where the noise is coming from. I have always used a screwdriver as a "stethoscope" & have been quite surprised where some rattles & bangs come from, but get exaggerated by the engine itself.
As Glang said, replace the plug, put the head with the valves facing upwards & pour some petrol into the head & see if it leaks
