How many people are "closet Racists".Seems that in private conversation you hear all sorts of things ,but would these people sprout off in public.

Dunno what that has to do with the price of fish....

Bottom line is somebody has been forced out of a job because he supports a legal political party, however distasteful that party may be. Would you complain if you were forced to resign because you were spotted wearing a vote Labour/Conservative?Lib Dem sticker?

But that's the whole point. Labour, Tory and Lib Dem are credible mainstream political parties. Any fool with a hundred and fifty quid can set up a political party.

And many have done.... Remember that the big three were once small and lacking in credibility. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the BNP, but I think it's disgusting that somebody has lost his job for displaying a political bent whilst not at work.

but none were likely to have manifestos that would cause such a potentially explosive conflict of interest. someone posted earlier about if that officer's political leanings came up in court - they'd be discredited.

anyway, enough, I'm off to bed!

My middle daughter called me a racist once, because I told her I didn't like her West Indian boyfriend. I took her to a predominantly ethnic populated part of town and introduced her to a West Indian woman I know.

I said "Claudette, can you please tell my daughter how you know me", she replied "Sure, you're my ex-boyfriend". I then explained that my daughter had called me racist and why, and Claudette laughed her head off. She looked my daughter straight in the eye and said "Believe me, your dad is no racist. If he doesn't like your boyfriend it's because he thinks he's a waste of space to55er, not because he's black. I know you and your boyfriend from the pub, and your dad's right, your boyfriend is a to55er". Hasn't stopped her from seeing him though.

I think it's pretty naive to say he was just displaying a political bent, don't you? Maybe he was and maybe he wasn't but it seems to me that if you wear a BNP badge to the football, it's not just a political act, you're making a statement and trying to project an image. In fact, I'd probably say it's more likely to be that, than any political statement.

Coolgirl made quite a good point there, what's to stop any scumbag from starting up their own political party? Join the Abu Hamza party today, or The United Kingdom Paedophile Party... You're not suddenly legitimate just because you're in politics. Heh, probably quite the opposite actually! "I hate that UKPP, not only are they paedophiles, they're sleazy politicians too!"

The Labour party was set up to try and protect the interests of an underclass, and the Tories came about in part due the Corn Law riots. History does not judge them badly for it, despite their roots being in socio-political upheaval.

I've got more respect for the BNP, or indeed the "abu hamza party" than for any of the big ones. You know where you stand with them!

BNP, skinheads in suits, not in court. What the f?

AHP, lunatic 'stanis, probably not in suits. Dirka jihad!
