my worst was about this time last year with Kirsteen on the bacl of the bike a Brown Escort pulled out on me. Its a great corner on a road out the back of glasgow... It was a choice of go straight ahead into the field via a hedge and maybe some trees. Hit the brakes and do the same on my ass with Kirsteen on top of me, or countersteer harder and hope... I did the latter... I got that close to the car on straightening up that his wing mirror came off as my elbow hit it... About 5 minutes later (having passed about 3/4 cars) I looked in the mirror and was shocked to see that a brown escort was casing me along the road. I decided not to hang about and nailed it towards Aberfoyle... He didn't catch me... Biggest shock was to come as 4 weeks later having forgotten about it, two policemen turned up and said Mr Escort driver had accused me of an unprovoked attack on his car... told them my side of the story and they left happy...

Doing about 40mph around an unfamiliar corner (Just low walls on either side, so I could see nothing was coming etc.) suddenly, adverse camber coupled with a rapid change from smooth as glass to "tractor drove through it whilst it was setting" tarmac. I was leaned over, not close to scraping pegs, but quite a bit. Suddenly the bike "skipped" (it almost felt like 3 sidewards hops) into the oncoming lane. Admittedly, I would of been going slower and leaned less, had there been something coming the other way, but I couldn't help but feel, "What if there had been something in the oncoming lane?!".
Just out of interest, why are there adverse cambers on roads? Seems a massive danger (to cars as well as bikes), for a minimal cost saving. Is there a particular reason why they're useful in some situations or something? |

Everyday on the bike scares me witless...
maybe I should think about a car... I hit a rabbit at seventy and cleaved it half, made the bike wobble like a fecker.. that scared me rather allot. I find travelling down the A3 normally getting to the QE country park a bit scary and when that wind pick's up there its so much stronger than every where else. Tents to guts allot, had it changing lanes for me. 130 mile hour stoppies are a bit scary too... bloody slow **** metros. Oh and my very first stoppie behind a BMW... that was a shocker... the bike went up soooo high, and then landed so hard. But the worst was the grilling that I got in magistrate's courts, he was nasty. |

Hmmmmm......it's one of 2, first time up to Devils bridge with the wife as pillion, overtook a car on a long straight, just start going in for a left hander and bike doesn't want to turn, my missues decided she didn't want to go roud the bend so was leaning the opposite way to me. Stood it up an slammed the brakes on, went across the the road into the juction on the opposite side of the bend, caught up to the car again a little later and passed it again ...............Second time, I was going into uni for finals, thought I would take the scenic route on the bike, went on a tight left hander was just getting back on the power when I hit overbanding and it felt like my **** was overtaking my head, after reading a lot of comments in here, some how managed to keep on the gas and it sorted itself out, got to uni with 5mins to spare,
so much for a relaxing pre exam ride. ste
