The mutt has arrived. He was very weary for the first hour or so. Now Dog tired. He does respond to his name so we will keep it. The hard graft of training has begun.

Chew toy, got to be better than the coffee table, which he seems drawn to.

How's he settled at night?
Are you going to get a harness on him and run him.

Settled relatively well for his first night. He was all in by the end of the day. He slept in his cage until 2am when he whined on to be let out. Cheryl got up (bless her) let him outside for a bit then he slept till 6 when the first of the daughters hit the shower, so I had to get up. The noise he made this morning to be let out was strange, part whine, part bark and part howl, I've heard nothing like it.
He now immediately looks at you when you say his name. He's coming on OK, with come and sit commands. However this morning as soon as I picked up the treat clicker he knew straight away and followed me round, sitting without being asked ready for his treat. So I couldn't call him to me as he was already there.
Apart from house training we are just working on Come, Sit, Outside, after those it'll be Down, Stay, Off and leave.
So far no real chewing problems.

As for running him I'm going to look into getting a scooter for him to pull. However I'm told this may be illegal.
It all depends on whether I can exercise him sufficiently with walking as I'm not running

Yep that's the kind of thing I was thinking off. However when I mentioned it to a friend of the family I was assured it is illegal. I've since Google'd it and it's fairly common in the UK so perhaps he meant on the roads. Maybe a bike would be better for me as like a lot of folk I've a bike in the shed.
