Re: Your favourite movie of all time
The Ghost Train (black and white)
The Time Machine Forbidden Planet its a hard question as i have sooooo many films i like. the ones i have watched the most are: the chronicles or riddick starwars LOTR van helsing league of extraordinary gentlemen hellboy underworld i could go on and on. my collection of films is not that large and must be nearing 1000 titles of which 300 are blu-ray but i also rent discs online and if i like the film i will buy it for my collection. i dont download/stream films as the quality is garbage. the most popular films are transferred to my USB HDD drive in full no compression ISO format (just like the original disc) that gets plugged into my OPPO BD player. to date the oppo is the only proper standalone disc spinner that will play ISO files via USB (unless you were stupid enough to update it) and now there are none. |

Re: Your favourite movie of all time
Of all time, have to go with Pegasus' choice, The Wizard of Oz.
If time will tell then it already has with this one. Still as good as when I was a child. The short list, in no paticular order. Easy Rider - cult classic Kelly's Heroes - controversial at the time A Christmas Carol - with George C. Scott . Dicken's at it's best Hook - with Robin Williams as an aging Peter Pan. Brilliant.

Re: Your favourite movie of all time
It is very subjective, but that is art for you yes I think certain films can be considered as art.
I watched the Drive for the first time a few days ago, it was awesome in terms of the lighting/colour & the soundtrack. I think the best movies are driven by the narrative, characters, cinematography, sound track I prefer in camera effects created by using light for example of that watch Apocalypse Now, Vittorio Storaro is genus when it comes to using colour in films. |

Re: Your favourite movie of all time
Useless factoids alert. This version of Christmas Carol was partly filmed in the basement area of Tanners Wines in Shrewsbury, where Father-in-law was a director. The tombstone that Scrooge was shown by the ghost is still in the graveyard of St Chads in Shrewsbury. And finally, pulling it all together, St Chads is where my in-laws got married. And I agree with Bill, it is a great version of the film.
