Is this ride on, come rain or shine?

I have only been riding since May and I've never done a group ride before and I was thinking of tagging along. I'd like to think I'm not slow, but I'm definitely not that quick either. When you say spirited.. would the pace be suitable for a novice?

Isnt that the one on the way into Weymouth, that is facing away from Weymouth, that P*ssed King George off?

Quite fancy this ride out, should be there as long as its not horrific weather.

If you don't ride slightly beyond your abilities, how are you going to learn?

I really, really, REALLY hope you just forgot to put a smiley on the end of the above phrase ?

No-one should EVER be encouraged to ride beyond their abilities - the potential for disaster not only for them but for those around them is too great !

Ability increases with experience - at whatever rate is natural for the individual concerned - it should never be forced (perhaps on the track it might be ok to 'push' it a bit but not on the road).

And to think I ever said this forum was po-faced and touchy-feely.

Group hug!

I totally agree! I was just trying to gauge what a spirited pace was in Andy's view, I'd rather not make it a step to far.

Group riding tips

# Do not try to ride beyond your capabilities or what feels uncomfortable to you just to keep up. The leading pack will stop periodically to allow bikes at the back to catch up and re-join the main group (if they think the gap is getting too big).

bobw1985 hope this helps..

Careful now, if you take that kind of pansy thinking to its logical conclusion you end up wth road captains and a marker system.
